Read together
Make room for
a little discovery.
A story shared with a grown-up.
A picture explored at a toddler’s pace.
The Plipalong Garden books are read-aloud stories for toddlers ages 1–3. Hold the book, keep the words simple, and let the pictures do some of the talking.
Try one sound.
Read “swish” softly or let “plip” be a tiny surprise. Pause afterward. Your child might copy the sound, point at the picture, or simply listen.
Look together.
Notice the leaf above Snail or the rings in Frog’s pool. You can say what you see without turning the page into a quiz.
Leave room for a gesture.
If it feels comfortable, trace a small circle in the air or let your hand sway like a leaf. Joining in is optional; looking and listening are part of sharing the story too.
Return to a favorite.
A second look can reveal another friend or another small detail. Repeat a sound, stay with a picture, or close the book when your child is ready to stop.
A few invitations
- “I can see a tiny ripple.”
- “Shall we try that swish again?”
- “Which friend caught your eye?”
